His talk will describe the lessons from tech hubs such as Silicon Valley, New York, London and Singapore and will relate that to the special needs of fintech and the triple disruption of artificial intelligence and blockchain and the shift to Asia. He will describe the opportunities and challenges of Switzerland as a Fintech hub as seen from a global perspective.

Takeaways will include: Will Switzerland benefit from Brexit? How to orchestrate states, incubators, regulators, legacy companies and startups? And his predictions for the coming five years.

The new European legislation, which will come into force in May 2018, will impose to companies operating in the European Union or those working with data of resident citizens in the EU, some very severe rules in this field.

In case of non-compliance, heavy penalties will be applied. In this sense, insurance coverage will become a fundamental part in corporate risk management in the cyber field.

The Swiss Fintech Lugano: Cyber Risk Insurance and the coming GDPR event will cover the implications of GDPR and the role of insurance in this new environment.

SICTIC Investor Day Fintech is a match-making event where fintech startups pitch to find experienced investors and supporters. Richard Zbinden and Stewart Beaumont will both be speaking during the event.

Zbinden, a Crypto Valley-based entrepreneur, will share about investing in crypto finance startups and will further dive into several key areas to better understand the scalability of crypto finance and solutions based on the blockchain.

Beaumont, the CTO of Thomson Reuters, will present how his firm is approaching the rapid technological changes across the financial and legal markets.

This event is organized by the SICTIC Fintech Angels vertical to connect the Fintech startup ecosystem with investors. The event language is English. Questions from the audience are also taken in French and German (and translated if necessary).

The pitching event is preceded by an Angel Training Event at 4:15pm opened to business angels only.

Quantopian eventsQuantopian is coming to Switzerland and working with the Swiss Finance + Technology Association to host three meetup events on May 18, 19 and 20.

The first meetup will focus on basic statistical arbitrage and will cover the statistics that ground the trading logic when conducting pairs trades and discuss how to find pairs. The presentation will be delivered by Delaney MacKenzie, the director of academia of Quantopian.

The second meetup will focus on how innovation is changing the investment management industry and the opportunities that fintech brings.

Finally, the third meetup will be a workshop on algorithmic trading. The event will give participants the ability to create and backtest basic trading strategies and will show them algorithmic trading tools to use.

Quantopian is a crowd-sourced quantitative investment firm. It provides capital, data, a research environment, and a development platform to algorithm authors (quants).
