Qonto, a Paris-based financial management platform for SMEs and the self-employed, has appointed Malte Dous as Managing Director for Central Europe.
In this role, he will oversee the company’s operations in Germany and lead expansion efforts in neighbouring markets such as Austria, where Qonto launched in October 2024.
Germany represents Qonto’s largest potential market in Europe, with around three million SMEs and self-employed professionals.
From the company’s Berlin office, Dous will be responsible for Qonto’s strategic direction and business development in the region.
He will also focus on product enhancements and local partnerships aimed at meeting the specific needs of German businesses.
Dous holds a doctorate from the University of St Gallen and began his career at the Boston Consulting Group.
Over the past twelve years, he has held senior roles in platform-based e-commerce businesses including Zalando, Wayfair, and DocMorris, managing areas such as category management, trade marketing, and marketplace partnerships.
Commenting on his appointment, Dous said:

“Qonto’s financial management tools enable entrepreneurs to focus on the essentials, their ideas and business success. In doing so, we also contribute to digitalisation and economic growth in Europe. That is a strong motivation for me.”
He joins Qonto’s global leadership team, which currently serves more than 600,000 customers across Europe and employs approximately 1,600 staff.
