The Swiss Bankers Association (SBA), SwissDebitPay, the Swiss Payment Association and the police have set up a group called Pay Attent!on to tackle payment fraud in Switzerland.
Past efforts each looked at one way to pay, but the group will cover cards, e-banking and TWINT together.
Experts from banks, the police and universities will study the latest scams and turn them into simple tips.
The group will first build a central website. National campaigns will then start in 2027, with posters on public transport, social media posts and more.

“Prevention is most effective when people get the same easy-to-understand messages, regardless of how they pay.
Instead of lots of different information sources, Pay Attent!on acts as a single point of contact for information on payment fraud and how to combat it,”
said Nicky Kern, board member of Pay Attent!on, representing the SBA.

“People who are under pressure don’t always question payment requests as much as they should.
In short, a successful scam is usually a psychological problem rather than a technical one. It’s people that are being manipulated, not technology,”
said Pascal Simmen, board member of Pay Attent!on, representing Swiss Crime Prevention.
