PayPal is expanding into physical retail in Germany this summer.
The company announced that it will begin offering its payment features in stores, aiming to give users a consistent experience whether shopping online or in person.
In the coming weeks, PayPal will launch its first contactless mobile wallet, with Germany being the first country to access the feature.
It will be available through the latest version of the PayPal app on iOS and Android.
Users will be able to pay by tapping their phones at any retailer that accepts Mastercard contactless payments.
The updated app will also provide a combined view of online and in-store purchases.
PayPal is also introducing Ratenzahlung To Go, which brings its Pay Later instalment option to physical stores for the first time in Europe.
Consumers in Germany will be able to pay for purchases in 3, 6, 12 or 24 monthly instalments.
Applications can be made directly through the PayPal app.
Additionally, users can activate cashback offers in the app and earn rewards when paying contactlessly at participating retailers in Germany.
More details are expected in the coming weeks.

“As technology advances, the benefits of digital payments in stores are becoming harder to ignore,”
said Joerg Kablitz, Managing Director of PayPal Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
“Cash has a role to play, but we know that many consumers and businesses are ready for innovative alternatives. Put simply, we believe PayPal is better than cash. Our app will make it easy and safe to pay with your phone in stores; it will give you more choice in how and when you pay; and even better, PayPal will help put money back in your pocket.”
