Baloise’s Insurance APIs Added Into F10 Fintech Sandbox

by December 9, 2020

Swiss-based F10 FinTech Incubator & Accelerator has added multiple insurance APIs from Baloise, a Swiss insurance holding company, to its F10 FinTech Sandbox. This move was to pave the way for open insurance in Switzerland.

One year ago, the F10 accelerator launched its sandbox to give fintech startups easy access to banking and insurance APIs.

The F10 FinTech Sandbox was built and hosted by ndgit, a Munich-based company and F10 alumni. It was first launched with a PSD2 API and quickly enhanced by other projects, particularly b.Link by SIX Group, that connects third parties to leading banks in Switzerland.

The idea behind the F10 FinTech Sandbox is to allow startups to test against incumbent APIs in an easy-to-use setup, in order to accelerate collaboration between fintechs and financial service institutions.

The latest addition to the sandbox is the API provided by Baloise Group who is F10’s corporate partner. Baloise works with London-based insurtech company KASKO to digitise its insurance products.

Several Baloise products, such as multi-item insurance, holiday insurance or cyber insurance can be accessed on the sandbox, and product integration can be tested with an API key provided by F10.

Philipp Marty, Head of New Business and Partnerships at Baloise said

“For Baloise Insurance, APIs are one of the key success factors to be able to operate successfully in partnerships and ecosystems. We want to be a pioneer in the insurance industry and are proud to be the first Swiss insurance company to achieve this milestone, together with our long-standing accelerator partner F10. Thus, the connected startups and other curious companies can test their use cases.”

The sandbox is open for all ventures in the F10 ecosystems in Switzerland, Singapore, and Spain. F10 corporate partners, as well as other innovative corporates, can provide their APIs to a diverse and high-quality pool of startups.
