Worldline has launched a payment tool that lets merchants accept purchases made through AI agents.
The payment handler supports the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), an open standard developed by Google and other industry partners.
UCP provides a common framework for AI agents to find products and complete purchases.
Merchants can configure their payment options once and use them across platforms connected to UCP.
The setup supports card payments, mobile wallets and European payment methods.
The capability is available through Global Collect, Worldline’s cross-border payment platform.

Stijn Gasthuys, Head of Global Commerce & CEO of Global Collect (Worldline Group), said,
“As AI starts to play a bigger role in how consumers discover and buy products, merchants are looking for ways to capture these new opportunities without adding complexity to their operations. Our role is to make that possible through payment capabilities they already know and trust.”

Gertjan Dewaele, VP Product & Technology at Worldline Global Commerce, said,
“With the Worldline Global Collect Payment Handler, we have built a universal adaptor on UCP that securely bridges agentic commerce platforms and merchant backends, enabling merchants to prepare for agentic commerce and scale across multiple platforms tomorrow.”
Worldline has also tested AI agent payments with ING through separate projects involving Visa and Mastercard.
