Euroclear has appointed Usman Ahmad as its Head of Digital Assets.
In this newly created role, Ahmad will steer the group’s digital assets strategy as the post-trade services provider explores opportunities in tokenisation and digital settlement.
Ahmad joins from institutional digital asset brokerage Zodia Markets, where he served as co-founding CEO.
His background includes a key role at OSL, one of the early regulated digital asset market participants, as well as more than 17 years in capital markets technology leadership positions at HSBC and Merrill Lynch.

“Euroclear plays a central role in financial markets, and I look forward to working with colleagues, clients and market participants to develop solutions that deliver long-term value,”
said Usman Ahmad, Head of Digital Assets, Euroclear.
Euroclear is currently exploring opportunities in digital issuance, tokenisation, and new forms of digital settlement.
These efforts build on initiatives including the digitisation of the Eurobond issuance process and a collaboration with the Banque de France on the NEU CP project, an initiative exploring distributed ledger technology for the commercial paper market.
The company stated that its digital strategy remains focused on maintaining the safety and resilience of financial market infrastructure while delivering practical benefits to institutional clients.
