On March 31st, 2016, leading Silicon Valley and Swiss startups will present the latest IT trends and their impact on business and consumers during Silicon Valley Meets Switzerland, an event that aims to gather some of the brightest minds in the IT sector from both regions under one roof.

Hosted at the Technopark in Zurich, Silicon Valley Meets Switzerland intends to be a platform to share ideas and build strategic alliances and collaborations between individuals and organizations alike. Among the topics that will be covered: robotics made in Switzerland, the Swiss IT innovators and entrepreneurs, e-commerce, Big Data, innovation investments, among many others.

The schedule will be essentially divided into a morning agenda, which will focus on the Swiss innovation and IT sector, and an afternoon agenda, which will mainly cover IT innovations in Silicon Valley.

In the morning, Prof. Dr. Roland Siegwart from ETH Zürich will kick off the conference with a presentation on the Swiss robotics industry. The talk will be followed by live demos of a number of robots including Zurich Eye, a visual inertial navigation system; wingtra, an autonomous tail-sitter aircraft; ANYmotion, an advanced robot mobility; and many more.

Following the World of Robotics, The Swiss Fintech Innovations part will present Switzerland’s financial technology industry and its entrepreneurs. Moderated by Christian König, a Swiss and Singapore fintech specialist, the segment will feature three speakers: Alex Batlin, the director of UBS’s technology innovation, research and development team on emerging technologies; Florian Kubler, co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of Splendit; and Christina Kehl, founding partner of Knip.

In the afternoon, the Silicon Valley IT Trends session will tackle topics such as Big Data applications, e-commerce, cryptocurrencies, and mobile applications. Among the speakers: David Farmer, VP International at Coinbase, one of the best funded startups in the bitcoin space, but also Marc Diouane, President of Zuora, the world’s largest provider of Relationship Business Management services; and Suzan Levine, the United States Ambassador to Switzerland.
