Lloyds Banking Group has successfully migrated its core machine learning (ML) and GenAI platforms to Google Cloud’s Vertex AI.
The announcement was made during the Google Cloud Next conference in Las Vegas, marking a significant step in Lloyds’ broader strategy to deploy impactful AI use cases at pace, according to the bank.
The migration involved moving 15 modelling systems, which include hundreds of individual models, from on-premise infrastructure to the cloud.
Lloyds stated that more than 300 data scientists and AI developers across the group are now using the new platform, which has already driven the development of over 80 new ML use cases and the launch of more than 18 GenAI systems into production.
An additional 12 GenAI systems are expected to go live by the end of June, with a prototype Agentic AI system set to be introduced for customers later this year.
The partnership with Google Cloud works alongside Lloyds’ recently expanded cloud migration agreement with Oracle, which will see the bank transition the databases supporting its business operations and banking services to Oracle Database at Azure.
