Im Rahmen der Blockchain-Week gaben BitPay und Ingenico eine Partnerschaft bekannt. Wird damit auf einem Schlag die Zahlungsabwicklung an über 27 Millionen Terminals via Blockchain-Technologie wie Bitcoin oder anderen Cryptocurrencies möglich?
Ingenico vertreibt POS-Terminals, beschäftigt über 5’000 Angestellte in über 170 Ländern. Und BitPay ist der grösste Zahlungsabwickler in Bereich Bitcoin. Dank BitPay können Geschäfte Zahlungen in der Cryptowährung akzeptieren, die Umrechnung in USD oder EUR passiert jedoch genau zum Zeitpunkt des Point Of Sale (POS).

An der Konferenz zeigte BitPay eine Software, die für das Terminal ICT250 entwickelt wurde. Diese Software ist aber mit fast allen anderen Ingenico Terminals kompatibel und läuft auf dem Betriebssystem Telium.
Bezüglich Integration und Implementierung äusserte sich Miguel Angel Hernandez, Managing Director von Ingenico Iberia wie folgt:
“Participating in such an important project has allowed Ingenico Group to demonstrate its leadership in the payment space and bring a safe and secure payment method like virtual currency to the end user.”
Kunden können in Bitcoin bezahlen, nachdem der Verkäufer auf dem Ingenico-Terminal einen QR-Code generiert hat. Der Kunde scannt danach diesen QR-Code mit seiner Bitcoin Wallet Software und muss danach die Zahlung nur noch mit einem “ok” bestätigen. BitPay ist nicht die erste Partnerschaft die Ingenico im Bereich der Blockchain-Technologie eingeht. Bereits Anfang des Jahres wurde eine Kooperation zwischen Paymium und Ingenico bekannt.
Fazit
Das interessante an dieser Partnerschaft ist folgender Punkt: Es ist nicht nur so, dass Ingenico Bitcoin integriert, sondern auch umgekehrt. BitPay integriert ebenfalls die Zahlungsmöglichkeit von Fiatwährungen, die dann via Ingenico prozessiert werden. Oder wie Tony Gallipi zu Coindesk meinte:
“We are excited to partner with Ingenico Group, one of the leading payment processors in both physical and online commerce. This integration will help us expand bitcoin payments to thousands of retail payments worldwide”
