findependent has launched a Pillar 3a pension product with an annual management fee of 0.29%. The fee already includes fund costs.
The firm says its fee is below the 0.39% to 0.45% charged by established digital 3a providers.
This is possible because the company runs its own pension foundation.
More than 30,000 clients already use the findependent app to invest outside the pension system.
New and existing clients can now open a 3a account in the same app. As a result, they can manage both types of investment with a single provider.
All funds are denominated in Swiss francs, so no currency conversion surcharges apply.
In addition, clients do not pay stamp duties or stock exchange levies, the company said.
As with its existing offering, clients can choose from five predefined investment solutions.
Equity shares range from 20% to 99%, and each solution is offered with a choice of Standard, Switzerland or Global focus.
Clients may also create their own solution. The minimum investment is CHF 1.
findependent implements the solutions with index funds from Swisscanto, the fund provider of Zürcher Kantonalbank.
Where available, it uses IPF index funds. Only pension institutions can access these funds, which the company says are exempt from foreign withholding taxes.
Instead of depending on an existing collective foundation, findependent established the findependent 3a Vorsorgestiftung.
This gives the company full control over product design, pricing and the client experience.

Matthias Bryner, Founder and CEO at findependent, said its own foundation allows the company to offer its 3a solutions at a low price. He added that findependent aims to reach 20,000 3a clients by the end of 2027.
