Revolut has cleared the final regulatory hurdle to launch as a bank in Colombia after receiving approval from the country’s financial regulator.
The company has not confirmed a launch date.
Around 200,000 Colombians have joined its waiting list, according to Revolut.
Customer deposits will be covered by Fogafín in line with Colombia’s deposit insurance rules.

Diego Caicedo, CEO of Revolut Colombia said,
“We are not going to just launch as a bank ; we are connecting Colombia to the global economy, simplifying remittances and access to world-class products in one single place, supported by the infrastructure of one of the world’s most innovative financial platforms.
This licence is an important regulatory milestone, and we are excited to demonstrate the value of our proposition in the Colombian market.”
Colombia becomes the sixth jurisdiction where Revolut has secured a banking licence, following approvals in Lithuania, Mexico, the UK, France and Australia.
The fintech reported revenue of US$6 billion and pre-tax profit of US$2.3 billion for 2025.
It currently serves more than 80 million customers worldwide and aims to reach 100 million by mid-2027.
Revolut has also received conditional approval for a US national bank charter, a payments licence in the UAE and an organisation licence in Peru as part of its wider expansion.
