Swedish fintech company Vilja Solutions has been recognised as a Niche Player in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Retail Core Banking Systems, Europe, 2025.
The report, authored by analysts Vittorio D’Orazio and Ali Merji, evaluated 15 vendors operating within the European market.
The Gartner report assesses the strengths and cautions of various technology providers in the sector.
According to Gartner, core banking systems are evolving towards enhanced composability and cloud utilisation as banking CIOs prioritise modernising core functions for decentralised applications.
Gartner defines a core banking system as the back-office software that handles real-time or end-of-day processing for deposits and loans.
This includes transaction posting, interest calculations, service charge management, and cash management functions such as zero balance and target balance.
These systems also interface with customer-facing channels, general ledger systems, and reporting tools.

Fredrik Ulvenholm, CEO at Vilja Solutions, said,
“We’re incredibly excited to be recognised in the Gartner Magic Quadrant in this highly competitive space. We believe being named as a niche player demonstrates our strong position here in the Nordics and is a stepping stone to our global expansion. We believe this aligns well with our promise to the market is to take full ownership and accountability to ensure every customer’s success.”
