Monzo has launched in Spain, making it the digital bank’s third market after the UK and Ireland.
The UK-based bank is offering personal, joint, under 18, business and instant access savings accounts to customers in Spain.
The accounts are free and managed in a single app. In addition, each account carries a Spanish IBAN and connects to Bizum, the Spanish mobile payment service.
The Monzo Spain launch comes after the bank secured its European banking licence in December 2025.
The Central Bank of Ireland granted that licence, and Monzo launched in Ireland in April 2026.
Then, in May, the bank opened a waitlist in Spain to learn from early customers.
Before launch, it worked with early personal and business customers to understand local pain points.
Monzo is a fully regulated bank and is registered with the Banco de España.
In the UK, it serves 16 million customers, including 1 million business customers, according to the company.

“Launching in Spain is a huge milestone for Monzo and we have big ambitions here,”
said Francisco Sierra, Country Manager for Spain at Monzo.

“We’ve proven our model in the UK, building a bank that customers love and trust with more of their financial lives. We’re taking that same approach in Ireland and now Spain, fuelling Monzo’s next chapter of growth across Europe,”
said Diana Layfield, Group CEO at Monzo.
